The past week has been pretty uneventful. We had some plans, but they were postponed when the kid and I came down with my husband’s cold. Luckily, it wasn’t anything horrible, but we used the weekend to rest and recover. It was kind of nice to be stuck at home. I got a couple of ARCs read and watched the final season of the women’s PAC-12 basketball tournament. I also caught part of the women’s SEC final between LSU and SC. Did anyone else see that crazy fight that delayed the game by 20 minutes? I’m looking forward to seeing how the NCAA tournament shakes out. Oh! And we also watched Ricky Stiniky. That was fun. Hopefully you all had a great week. Here’s what I’ve been reading:

The Best of All (The Best Men, #2) by Karla Sorensen is the last book I read. This was an ARC and I loved it.

I’m reading an ARC of The Unraveling by Vi Keeland. Surprisingly, this is a thriller and not a romance.

An ARC of Ali Hazelwood’s Not in Love is most likely what I will read next. I’m on a mission to keep on top of the NG ARCs that I’m approved for.

The first WWW Wednesday of March. I feel like this year is already flying by. This week was pretty chill. I continued reading NetGalley ARCs and watching HBO’s Ballers. This past weekend I went to the state basketball tournament final game because, while my kid’s team didn’t make it far in the tournament, they did win the academic state championship with a team GPA of 3.87 and were recognized at half time. That was really cool. Sunday was a soccer a game and it was a COLD one. My husband woke up with the sniffles Sunday morning and has tested negative for COVID so far, so hoping it stays that way and the rest of us don’t get it. My daughter is supposed to have a birthday sleepover this weekend and rescheduling it will be pain if it comes to that. I hope you are having a great week so far.

The last book I read was an ARC of The DM Diaries by Teagan Hunter.

I’m currently reading an ARC of The Best of All by Karla Sorensen.

I am going to take a break from ARCs and pick up Lex Martin’s new release, Heartbreaker Handoff.

This week has BUSY. Friday and Sunday we went to watch the UW WBB team play their last home games of the year. It was the first time we have been since COVID hit in 2020, so it was a lot of fun. I didn’t realize how much I had missed going. That is probably because I have had all of my daughter’s games to go to. Sunday, we also met up with my parents after the game for lunch. It was nice to catch up with them in person. The biggest thing that happened this past week is that I now have a teen driver. It’s both exciting and bittersweet. I am officially no longer the mom taxi. I knew it was coming, but I didn’t realize it would make me so sad at the same time feeling relief of not having to drive to the school multiple times a day. I treasured that time talking to my kid in the car. I guess teenagers have to become more independent at some point, but it is still hard. I’m excited for her and know she will be a good driver. Other than that, I’ve been trying to get NetGalley ARCs read but haven’t been doing the best job because my husband has been watching HBO’s Ballers on Netflix and it sucks me in. There are so many characters making bad decisions on that show. I can’t decide if I love or hate it.

I will be reading an ARC of Dishonestly Yours by Krista & Becca Ritchie.

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve done a WWW Wednesday post. In those weeks, life has become a little less busy for a moment. Basketball season ended for my high schooler. That was bittersweet for us all because we will miss watching the girls play and miss the seniors who will be graduating this June. We also got a weekend off of soccer games because of the Presidents’ Day holiday weekend. It was nice to not know what to do with ourselves for a weekend. My husband and I also celebrated another year of wedded bliss. I went to lunch one day with my daughter and sister. I don’t often get to spend time with my sister without the rest of my extended family, so that was extra special. My daughter and I also went to see the movie Argyle. It was a lot of fun. I applied for a job I’m interested in and would be perfect for me, so cross your fingers I get an interview. That’s about it. A lot of fun packed into the long weekend.

I am reading an ARC of The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center now.

I think I’m going to continue with my ARC reading spree and read Right Where We Left Us by Jen Devon next.

I’m tired. Is anyone else tired? The past week has been crazy busy. We had a fun week with my daughter’s basketball team. They were in league playoffs on Thursday and Saturday. They won both games, so they get to host the next round this Friday. Saturday she also had a club soccer game that ended with a win. Sunday was all about chores and relaxing. I watched part of the Grammys and The Plus-One on Netflix. My husband was watching Griselda this past week, so I kind of watched while I read. I had a couple of ARCs I was trying to get read before their releases. I also started scouring the internet this week looking at jobs because I will have a teenage driver soon and won’t be responsible for transportation and such anymore before, during, and after school. That will be a big change for me, so it brings stress. You will also probably see me less active on my blog and commenting more sporadically in the next couple of months while I get used to my new normal. I also got my yearly mammogram, and all is good. (Reminder to get your mammogram, ladies!)

Now that I’ve got those ARCs off my plate, I’m trying to catch up on new releases. Here’s what that looks like.

I would say where did January go, but I know where it went for me. It was full of high school basketball games, the past week especially. Last week, there were 4 games between Monday and Saturday. This week there are 3. Watching basketball has been life. I am not complaining one bit. This team has felt special and, despite not having a winning record, has worked their butts off. We’ll be sad to see the season end in another week. To add to that, club soccer is back in full swing as well and there was also a game this weekend. I did manage to get in a little reading as well, which is good because I had 4 ARCs come in that have to be read in like 2 weeks. I also watched a fun movie called Queenpins on Netflix.

I read an ARC of Against All Odds (Holt Hockey, #2) by C.W. Farnsworth over the weekend.

I’m reading and loving an ARC of Meghan Quinn’s The Reason I Married Him

I can’t wait to get to The Summer Playbook (Central State Football, #2) by Jaqueline Snowe.

We’ve warmed up a bit here in the PNW since last week. No more teen and 20’s. and no more 2-hour school delays due to icy roads. YAY! We’re in the 40’s and 50’s now with lots of rain. This week has been mostly kid centered for me. We’re getting close to the end of basketball season. They had a fun 2-point win Thursday against a very physical team, a win over a neighboring district’s team Monday, and tonight there is a game against the #3 team in the state in their division. That leaves one more regular season game and one regional playoff game left for sure. Basketball season is a long season. I also helped chauffer her and her friends to a school dance on Friday night. Other than that, I’ve been dealing with blepharitis. It’s a really annoying eyelid inflammation thing. It’s made reading hard for a few days, but I’m hoping the antibiotics are doing their thing and it will be gone soon. That’s about it here.

I plan on reading an ARC of Possessive Heart (Starlight Cove, #5) by Brighton Walsh next.

If I had to give one word for the last week, it would be COLD. We got a dusting of snow Friday and temperatures dropped into the upper teens and 20’s. Brrr! Other than that, not much is new. I watched a few more high school basketball games, one of which was Senior Night. It was nice to recognize the girls who have shown so much leadership and friendship with my daughter. My husband had a birthday recently, so we celebrated by going to brunch. I watched a couple of women’s PAC-12 basketball games and the movie Role Play on Netflex. I liked Role Play, but my husband wasn’t the biggest fan of it. I also continued binging on Taylor Swift music. It was a busy but relaxing long weekend.

I’m still not used to typing 2024. It will probably take me until June. lol. This past week felt exhausting. School started back up Thursday and it was full speed ahead with a basketball game that evening and again on Saturday evening. This is a rebuilding year for the team, so it’s been tough, but I love watching the growth of my daughter’s skills and the rest of the team’s. We’ve got another game tonight. Monday night, we watched UW football take on Michigan in the national championship. That was exciting, but also sad since they lost. The weather has been pretty rainy over the past week, but it looks like that rain might be turning to snow in the next couple of days. My family is excited, while I hope it doesn’t actually snow.  Here’s what I’ve been reading.

The last book I finished was Breakaway by Avery Keelan. I think this is the last backlist book of hers that was available to read for me.

I’m super excited to be reading an ARC of Tarryn Fisher’s Good Half Gone.

I will probably read First Down (Beyond the Play, #1) by Grace Reilly next because I read the second book first and now want to go back to this one.

Well, we made it to 2024. It was really weird typing “2024”. The past week has been exhausting but fun. My daughter and I met friends for lunch one day. I took down the Christmas decorations. I watched part of Taylor Swift’s Reputation Tour on Netflix one last time before it disappeared, and the UW Huskies take on the Longhorns in the Sugar Bowl. I ate way too many leftover holidays goodies. My daughter had 2 basketball games this past weekend that were fun to watch. We had dinner and a bonfire at a friend’s house for New Year’s Eve. I think we were in bed before midnight but didn’t get to sleep until about 3:30 a.m. because people were randomly setting off fireworks and it was freaking my dog out. No fun at all. I managed to finish up some books I was planning to read before the new year, and I’ve been binge listening to Tove Lo’s Borderline and Dove Cameron’s Sand alongside Taylor Swift’s 1989 this week. I hope you all have a wonderful 2024!

The last book I finished was The Enforcer (Lakeside University, #1) by Avery Keelan.

I’m currently reading 10 Blind Dates by Ashley Elston. It’s a lot of fun so far.

I wanted to go back to Avery Keelan’s Lakeside University series with The Sniper, but it isn’t available to read anymore. Must have gotten picked up by a publisher or something. I hope. I’m reading Otherwise Engaged instead.
