WWW Wednesday: April 5, 2023

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking on a World of Words.

It’s Wednesday again. I don’t know where the last week went. Actually, I do. I spent a ton of time watching the women’s NCAA tournament. I was hoping Iowa would go all the way, but LSU played their hearts out. It was fun seeing Clark smash all those records and what Mulkey would be wearing. I know there was a lot of drama about trash talking, but it’s basketball and that happens. I was also nursing a head cold that luckily wasn’t COVID over the weekend. My daughter brought it home, I got it and now my husband has it. I love how kids bring home the bugs. I also spent time cleaning out our closet and dusting everything. Ick. Not fun but had to be done. My daughter also had another track meet I attended where she placed first in the high jump and third in the 3200m (2 mile) run. I’m proud of her for always trying hard. Watching a bunch of teenagers run sure reminds you how old you are, that’s for sure. To top it all off, I got some reading in. Here’s what I’ve been up to book wise.

WHAT DID YOU JUST FINISH READING?

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?

I finished an ARC of Fearless Heart by Brighton Walsh. It was a fun small-town marriage of convenience romance.

I’m reading The Rules of Dating My Best Friend’s Sister by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. The first book in this series was fun, so I’m hoping this will be as well.

I’m super excited to start The Summer We Fell  by Elizabeth O’Roark when it releases tomorrow.

Book Tag: 5…4…3…2…1…

Hey. It’s Me. I’m back with another book tag. I’ve been having fun doing one here or there instead of a WWW Wednesday post, so that’s what you’re getting today. I saw this tag a while back on Dini’s blog. She didn’t know the creator, so if you do let the rest of us know in the comments. This time, it’s the

Get Your (Book) Travel On

Summer is coming to an end here in the Pacific Northwest. I am ready for fall, but not quite ready to let summer go. Summer seems to be a time everyone loves to travel, so in the spirit of keeping summer going I’m going to share with you some of my favorite travel romances.

Meghan Quinn takes Bonnie (and us) along to a small Scottish town to find love and purpose.

Jen Frederick takes us along on emotional journey to South Korea to find Hara’s birthparents.

In Karen White’s book we travel to London with journalist Maddie to interview Precious about her life in London prior to WWII.

Robinne Lee takes Solène to many destinations as she embarks on a whirlwind affair with a famous, much younger musician.

There may be trouble in paradise for Chloe Liese’s characters, but visiting the Hawaiian islands is always a good time.

If you’re looking for a more magical destination, I would recommend you visit The House in the Cerulean Sea.

This one is actually set during the holidays, but there are so many fun traditions and places in Germany that Meghan Quinn’s characters visit. It would still make for some summer fun.

Summer trip to New Zealand? Kelly Siskind has got you covered.

Want a family vacation in Hawaii? It won’t be your family, but it will be entertaining.

Feeling like a crazy cruise adventure? Spend a semester at sea with Rebecca Yarros’s extreme athletes.

How about spending the summer in Rome with a friend?

Maybe family time in Hawaii wasn’t for you, but how about a fake honeymoon?

Here’s another one that visits many locations around the world.

Have you read any of these or have anymore ideas for books that will fill our travel wants and needs as fall rolls in?

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is:

Favorite Book Quotes

I feel like I’ve done this as a TTT post at least twice now, so I’m going to change things up just a tad and go with

New Favorite Book Quotes
1. “People sometimes still drown in the shallow end,” he whispers.

-Colleen Hoover, Heart Bones

2. “There are two different kinds of wrong. The wrong that stems from weakness and the wrong that stems from strength. You made that choice because you were strong and needed to survive. You didn’t make that choice because you were weak.”

– Colleen Hoover, Heart Bones

3.“Hatred is a one-way emotion.” I take a breath. “It only affects the person holding on to that hate. Take Laney’s ex, for example…” I face him, but he’s already watching me. “Do you think he knows how much you hate him? Do you think he cares that you do?” Leo chews the corner of his lip as his eyes search mine.  “Does he even know you exist?” His lashes lower. “So, what’s the point, right?” I murmur. “Only you carry the burden of hatred, Leo. And it’s a lot easier to let go of that pain than it is to hold on to it.”

– Jay McLean, Leo

4. “I like being the main character in your story.”

– Jay McLean, Leo

5. “Still, I’m drawn to him. Annoyingly drawn. Like a bruised and wayward moth flying into a flickering light bulb.”

– Erin Hahn, You’d Be Mine

6.“It sounds lonelier than it is. But I’d rather lose myself in a sea of strangers than find myself one-on-one with an acquaintance.”

– Erin Hahn, More Than Maybe

7. “Lyrics do that sometimes. They find their home at just the right time. Like a secret message in a bottle, floating on a current for decades, only to wash up at someone’s feet when the words are needed.”

– Erin Hahn, More Than Maybe

8. “Even the sun gets covered by clouds some days. That doesn’t take away from the light it gives off.”

– Brittainy C. Cherry, Southern Storms

9. “We didn’t fix everything for each other–but we didn’t have to. We just made a choice to be there. Which counted for a lot.”

– Katherine Center, What You Wish For

10. “More than anything, I know that you just have to choose to make the best of things. You get one life, and it only goes forward. And there really are all kinds of happy endings.”

– Katherine Center, How to Walk Away
