WWW Wednesday: October 13, 2021

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking on a World of Words.

I finished an ARC of Good Girl Complex by Elle Kennedy yesterday. I’ve been dealing with a bad back that is very painful, so I haven’t been commenting and such. I will hopefully be back to that soon.

I am reading an ARC of Varsity Captain (Varsity, #4) by Ginger Scott. I’m excited to be back in this world.

I am going to read an ARC of Wild Love (Campus Nights, #4) by Rebecca Jenshak next. I guess it’s ARC October for me this week!

  1. I’m currently on sick leave from work because of back issues, so I feel your pain. I’m having my second epidural treatment tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome—and I hope for the same for you. As regard books:

Last finished: THE ENDLESS ROAD TO SUNSHINE by Nicky James: m/m with lots of tropes (age-gap/grumpy-sunshine/professor-student) that don’t really feel like tropes because of how individualized James makes the characters; and also because of the propulsive plot involving the older MC having been married for many years to a serial killer. I thought James did a good job of making it plausible that someone could be married to someone and not realize what a monster they were.

Reading now: HE SAID NEVER by Ruth Cardello: this is part of Cardello’s Lost Corisis series about a billionaire who discovers he has several half-siblings (the books are about the various siblings). This one features a fake relationship between one of the sisters and a man who has vowed never to marry.

Next up: MAFIA QUEEN by CD Reiss: the third and final book in Reiss’s DiLustro Arrangement trilogy about a young Italian-American woman forced into an arranged marriage with an Italian mafia don. I’ve really liked the books so far because they address the inherent power imbalances in arranged marriages.

    1. Your back pain trumps mine. I am hoping to get by on muscle relaxers and naproxen for a couple more days and be good. It sounds like you have a ton of good reads going on! I hope your back feels better!

    1. Yes, but I’ve been in a mood to clear my NG shelf, so I’ve been reading the 2022 releases. Shame on me, but I can’t help it!

    1. Thanks! Each day it’s a little better. I think Good Girl Complex might be one you could enjoy.

    1. Thanks! I do have some good reads. Yes, back pain is horrible. I would rather have a bad cold (and I hate colds) than back pain.

    1. Thanks! Each day is getting better. Varsity Captain has to be read after Varsity Heartbreaker. This is the fourth book in a series. It is a companion to the first book. Happy reading!

  2. Oh no! I’m sorry about your back pain! I hope you feel better soon. Looking forward to seeing what you thought of Good Girl Complex.

    1. Thanks!
I actually really liked it. It was a little different than what she’s written before. I thought some things might bug me, but they didn’t.

    1. Yes, I think it will be, but I’m not for sure. You read that series, right? It was a great companion novel for the first book. I think you would appreciate that.

    1. Yes, it is. Thanks!

I will probably post it more towards the release date. I liked it a lot, though!

  3. Your poor back!! I managed to injure my low back / hip and the only thing that helps me is lots and lots of walking. Audiobooks for the win this week! I really hope you get what you need to feel better as soon as possible!

I am more than half way through my month of spooky reads and these romances are calling to me! Maybe I will weave them into my Nonfiction November!
