Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag

Instead of doing the Top Ten Tuesday post for today, I decided that I’m going give you all the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag instead. Here we go!

Best Book so Far in 2021

This is really tough because I feel like I’ve read some great books this year. Not all of them were released this year, so I’m going with one that was.

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2021

I can’t choose between these two!

New Release You Haven’t Read But Want To

I didn’t realize we were getting another book for this series until recently, so it wasn’t on my radar to read.

Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year

I’m excited for so many books that it’s hard to pick one. This might be the one I want to read the most, though.

Biggest Disappointment of 2021

I’m going to be honest. This book was sitting on my Kindle for years. I have mixed experiences with this author’s books. I was hoping this would be a positive one, but I could not stand the dude and the way he thought/talked. I didn’t make it past the first couple of chapters.

Biggest Surprise

I don’t know how to choose between In the Company of Killers and The Mindf*ck series for biggest surprise. Both are dark romantic suspense that are thrillers with big twists that I didn’t see coming. The first involves a group of killers and the second involves a serial killer who falls for an FBI agent.

Favorite New To Me Author(s)

I actually did a post for this exact prompt last week for TTT. Here’s my list.

1. Lex Martin
2. T.J. Klune
3. Chloe Liese
4. Kim Jones
5. Julia Quinn
6. Melissa Williams
7. S.T. Abby
8. Jaqueline Snowe
9. Katja Millay
10. Kate Canterbary

New Favorite Character

LUCY! Who knew the Prince of Darkness could be so freaking funny?

Book That Made You Cry

This book had all the feels.

Book That Made You Happy

So many books have made me happy this year…Probably because I read a lot of romantic comedies. I’m going with one of the most recent ones because I adore Meghan Quinn’s writing and she couldn’t have given Walker a better story.

Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought So Far This Year

I just love this cover. I only have it on ebook because I don’t buy many physical books.

What Books Do You Need to Read By The End of Year

I already have this book because I love Katie McGarry’s writing. This is a different genre for her, so I haven’t exactly jumped on reading it yet. I should.

So that’s it. The end. Feel free to do this tag if you want.

  1. I am on the fence about McGarry’s book, because it’s not contemporary, but I am super eager to see what Kennedy has in store for the Off Campus series.

    1. I just downloaded McGarry’s from NG recently, so I will be reading it for sure.

  2. I’m currently working on this tag… it’s my favorite every year. 🙂 Love seeing Malibu Rising as your fave! I’m so excited to see what you think of Next in Line. Man, did I fall for Quinn. His and Jess’s story was so, so good. I’m looking forward to Katie’s latest, too!

    1. It’s a fun one to do. I started Next in Line, but barely got into it before I had to pause for an ARC. Should pick it back up tomorrow. I am so happy you loved it.

    1. It really was good. Did you read Evelyn or Daisy? Mick Riva is from both of those books.

      1. I did not. I read Maybe in Anothr Life, I think it’s called? Right when she was new- she’s written so much since then, and I’ve heard so many things. I really ant to read Daisy.

        1. Daisy is my all time favorite. You should listen to the audio, if you don’t mind listening. It was so good.

    1. Thanks, Bea! I had been meaning to read both. Ari made me send her updates throughout the Killers series. It was so much fun!

  3. I love that you did the Mid Year Freakout tag. A few of my friends said they want to do it, as well, and I’m looking forward to all of them.

I have seen “The House in the Cerulean Sea” so often lately and absolutely love that cover.

I also did a twist on my TTT, I went for my main reason, travelling the world.

  4. I’m loving this list! 🖤
In the Company of Killers and Mindf*ck are definitely must-read series. I need the next book of Killers asap.
I’ve got that Audrey Carlan book on my kindle. And you couldn’t make it through it? I don’t have high hopes for this one 🙁

Here’s hoping the rest of this reading year is spectacular for you and that 2022 is even better!! 🖤🖤

    1. I’m so happy you liked both of those series! I also want that Killers book! I binged those and then felt sad there wasn’t more! Carlan’s Calendar Girl series worked for me, but nothing else yet. The guy in this one came across cocky in a way that rubbed me wrong.
I hope we both have amazing rest of the years!

  5. I’ve been hearing a lot about the Mindf*ck series. I’m hoping to get to it soon! I have yet to read one of Reid’s books, but I know I need to change that.

  6. I can’t wait to read Malibu Rising! The fact that it is your favourite of the year so far has me super excited for it. I have The House in the Cerulean Sea on my Kindle and I should really get to it soon. Awesome list! I hope that the next half of the year is just as enjoyable for you. 🙂
