From the moment Quinn Montgomery sat behind her first snare and cymbal set, she was destined for fame and glory. As Hush Note’s infamous female drummer, she sets the rhythm for the band’s chart-toppings hits. When people tap their feet to their music, it’s to her pulse.

Quinn is content to live in a world away from her family and the cage of her youth. Her only regret is leaving Graham Hayes behind without a goodbye. No matter how many sold-out stadiums she plays, no matter how many crowds sing her songs, his voice haunts her when the music stops.

When a family tragedy forces her to return home to Montana, she plans to leave the second she’s paid her respects. But seeing Graham again turns her life upside down. As a boy, he wasn’t able to make her stay. As a man, he might be her future.

If they can mend their rifts and find solace in the refrains.

This book was so my thing with its Footloose-like vibes. Perry really did Quinn’s badass rock star character justice by showing what she was hiding behind her walls. I loved returning to her hometown in Montana and finding out how her past shaped her. A big part of that was her relationship with her childhood sweetheart, Griffin. I loved figuring out their past piece by piece and what it meant for their future. It was such a sweet and emotional story — exactly what I would expect from Perry. I loved every bit of it.

  1. Glad you enjoyed this one!! It seemed like the first book was just mediocre for a lot of people, so I was hoping to see better reviews for this one.

    1. I think the first is worth reading, but I enjoy Bowen’s writing. It was weaker than most of her books, but it set this series up well. This one was better and the last one is the best. It all builds in a great way.

  2. I need to make time to read this! I really enjoyed the first pages of Quinn and Graham’s story included at the end of Lies & Lullabies, their chemistry is very promising and the fact that he was super mad at her after 9 years is even more promising!

    1. The preview made me excited to read this one as well. It delivered, too. I hope you find time to finish the series this month or next.
