Synopsis:

Have you ever hit rock bottom?

I embarrassingly have.

It’s why I’m wearing my girl’s decorative scarf over my head, clutching her lady drink to my chest, and singing ever so softly to Joni Mitchell while swaying back and forth.

This is what therapists refer to as LOSING IT.

Oldest story in the book: boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy screws up MASSIVELY, girl tells boy to suffocate in the fruits of his very own unborn children.

Heard it before? I’m sure you have.

So what’s so different about this story? Well, it’s about me, The Modern Gentleman, New York City’s top advice columnist, and my rather ungraceful downfall from my pristinely polished pedestal.

It’s about a girl I met who threw all my proven theories to the wind and left me awkward, needy, and absolutely head-over-wingtipped shoes in love.

This is a story about June Lacy and how she single-handedly dismantled The Modern Gentleman.

Oh, man. I needed a new Meghan Quinn book so badly. There are only a couple of authors who can make me break into laughter like she does. The Modern Gentleman had me laughing so dang hard. The things Meghan Quinn came up with! Sometimes I think her second job should be stand up comedy.

What else did The Modern Gentleman have to offer besides laughs? It had a fantastic storyline. I’m going to admit I cringed a bit after the beginning. It gave a little insight into the conflict, and I wasn’t so sure I was going to enjoy the build up since I already knew there was a demise. Luckily, it was such a fun, unexpected, sweet, and hilarious ride that those thoughts quickly left.

Wes Williams was one of those MCs I couldn’t help but root for. He had the best intentions, but you know what they say about those… I loved the doof. He certainly met his match with June. She was my favorite part of this book. I loved the hoops she put Wes through. Their relationship was just so stinking cute!

If you’re a fan of Meghan Quinn’s or romantic comedies in general, you won’t want to miss The Modern Gentleman. It was just so much fun!

  1. This sounds like a riot. 🙂 It’s always fun to see the mighty, sometimes slightly douchey, confirmed bachelors fall so hard. 🙂

    1. Thank you! I think this is one that might actually work for you of hers, if you’re willing to give it a try. It’s KU. If you don’t like it, no biggie.

    1. Really? She is great for a laugh! I really love her humor. I would recommend almost any of hers. They are in KU.

  2. I’ve never read a book by Meghan but I do subscribe to her enewsletter and she seems like she has a great sense of humour. I’ll have to checkout her books sometime soon. I need some romantic comedy reads in my life and they can be hard to find!

    1. She totally has an amazing sense of humor. If you like it in her newsletter, you should try one of her books!

  3. Oh man, YES! I’ve still only read a few of Meghan Quinn’s books but all I needed to do was read that synopsis (and your review which had me giggling because relatable!) and now I’m ALL IN! I’m so glad to see this is on KU because I think I’m definitely picking it up tonight 😀 Fab review!
