A Standalone FORBIDDEN LOVE SET IN THE EXPLOSIVE WORLD OF THE NBA…

Think you know what it’s like being a baller’s girl?
You don’t.
My fairy tale is upside down.
A happily never after.
I kissed the prince and he turned into a fraud.
I was a fool, and his love – fool’s gold.

One of the NBA’s brightest stars.
Fine. Forbidden.
He wants me. I want him.
But my past, my fraudulent prince, just won’t let me go.

When I read the blurb for Long Shot, I was like, “Okay. A love triangle. I can do this. It’s Kennedy Ryan, so it will be good.” I’m not normally a fan of love triangles, but I had such faith in Kennedy Ryan’s writing that I didn’t stress it. Maybe I should have. I should have known that Kennedy Ryan wouldn’t have written a simple love triangle. It was always going to be more than just that trope.

I knew Long Shot was going to be emotional, but I had no idea how brutal those emotions would be. Was it ever brutal. I don’t even know what to say about this book. It was more than just heartbreaking. Long Shot was devastating in a way I didn’t see coming. It was so uncomfortable to read, but hard to put down. Kennedy Ryan wrote about (what I’ll lamely call) a horrible situation, took thoughts and perception about it, and managed to show almost all sides of it. I was so impressed with how she tackled everything in this story. At the end, when I thought I might feel wrecked by it all, I felt hope and love. I’m so amazed by that.

I’m also amazed by Kennedy Ryan’s ability to write the ways she does. She teaches without preaching, in a way that touches the soul. She did this in Long Shot, and it was truly an exceptional book.

  1. I’m hoping to read this book VERY soon. I’m so glad it was such a powerful read for you. Ari had good things to say about it as well, so I’m excited to give it a try, but I will definitely have to prepare myself emotionally. I’m glad KR handled it so well though. That’s important.
    Great review!
