Billionaire Caleb Blackstone lives in the glamorous world of wealth and success, with every material luxury. But the moment he sees Brooke Casterley, none of that matters. Caleb is filled with a raw, undeniable need that he can’t ignore…for a girl who is so completely different from everything and everyone he’s ever known.
Only Brooke isn’t looking for love. She knows all too well just how much damage the wrong guy can do. Still, what sane, broke British girl can resist the charms of an incredibly sexy, chivalrous billionaire? What starts as flirtation quickly turns into all-consuming passion. Nothing could have prepared her for the searing heat of Caleb’s touch—or just how much she craves him.
Their whirlwind romance is the stuff of high-society fantasy—but for every moment of pleasure, there is a cost. Past mistakes and tragedy shadow them both…and falling for him might be the kind of trouble she can’t afford.
I have to be really honest. Filthy Rich was just not the book for me. I couldn’t connect with it. The writing was okay, but there were little things here and there throughout the story that bothered me. The storyline was flooded with drama. It filled both of the characters’ pasts, their presents and their relationship. It was just too much. I needed some normalcy in there so that I could pretend they were real people. Also, some of the dialog by the characters didn’t feel natural. Some of the words Caleb used were not what I would imagine a cocky billionaire would say (i.e.: “my bestie” when referring to his best friend).
I also couldn’t connect with the characters. I didn’t like Caleb all that much. He was too calculated and stalkerish. His inner dialog drove me nuts and was a little too insta-lovey. I didn’t believe his feelings could be real in the amount of time he knew Brooke. He was sweet to Brooke, though. He did have that and the fact that he was a decent human being going for him. As for Brooke, I had a hard time connecting with her in the beginning because of all her references to her mysterious past. After the second or third reference, I just wanted her to tell me about it already. I did love her relationship with her Nan, though. That was so sweet.
Brooke and Caleb did have amazing chemistry, though. The best parts of their relationship were the ones with witty banter. And they definitely shared a strong sexual connection. Their intimate moments were so sensual.
My favorite part of Filthy Rich was Janice. The drama she brought to the story was fun. Her craziness made this book worth while to read — even if it was a bit over the top.
Filthy Rich was a dramatic billionaire love story. It might not have been the book for me, but I have a feeling other romance readers may enjoy its charm.
