Synopsis:

Mercurial and charming, Tate Larson is a rising author and playboy who has a different woman on his arm every night of the week. Focused on his work, Tate has no plans to settle down any time soon. That is until he meets his pretty new assistant, Piper Donovan.

Desperate to escape the promise of backwater living, Piper ditched her Alabama hometown and never looked back. That was almost two years ago. Now that she is out of a job and her bank account is running on fumes, she’s desperate to find a job, fast. She finds the break she is searching for when she lands a position at Bookish Temptations. A little dancing and a lot of drinks with the girls seem the perfect way to celebrate. After a brief but explosive encounter with a man she was never supposed to see again turns out to be the same man she will be bending over backwards to please, her every instinct tells her to run. But when running means leaving the life she has struggled so hard to create, Piper decides her only option is to continue working for the devastatingly sexy Tate Larson…even if it kills her.

Unable to deny their growing attraction, they struggle to keep their distance in a relationship that requires anything but.

Piper has a lot to celebrate. She just landed the job that is going to keep her from returning to Alabama. And what would be a better way to celebrate than a fun night out with her friends? A fun night out and an amazing hookup! She gets just that when she has a quickie with an extremely hot and mysterious man at a dance club. Piper can’t get him out of her mind. Too bad she didn’t get name or number.

After horrible breakup with his ex, Tate has kept his relationships with women to one night only sexual encounters. When a sudden, passionate experience leaves him lusting after one of his one-night stands, Tate is perplexed. He never thinks about the women he screws afterwards.

When Piper shows up to her new job to find out Tate is the man she’ll be working closely with, she knows she has to make this situation work. She doesn’t want to give up her dream. Tate, on the other hand, is doing everything he can to scare Piper away. He doesn’t like what she makes him feel.

I knew That First Kiss was going to be a scorching read before I started it, but what I didn’t expect was such an amazing storyline to go along with it. That First Kiss was almost an enemies to lovers story. There was amazing frustration and sexual tension between the characters. The impact of Tate and Piper’s sexual connection on their work relationship was so much fun to read!

Piper was such a strong female character. She repeatedly stood up for herself and did her best to make the right decisions. I don’t think I could have put up with Tate the way she did. She was a freaking angel when it came to him!

Tate was a jackass. He was mean and ruthless towards Piper on purpose. I felt so bad for her. Deep down, he was just a man hurting. I enjoyed it when Tate realized the mess he had created.

When Tate and Piper weren’t locked in battle with each other, their sexual escapades were explosive! I was constantly fanning myself. They also had some amazingly sweet moments. I especially loved the ones involving Tate’s family.

What I loved most about this erotic romance novel was the amount of amazing story I got. It wasn’t overrun by sexual encounters. They were spread out nicely throughout a fun and interesting story. I would highly recommend this book to Contemporary Romance readers.
