Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2017

Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2017. Pretty simple, but hard to narrow down. Here are my top ten.

1. Emma Scott

I requested Emma Scott’s Full Tilt duet off NetGalley because I loved the covers and the blurb sounded good, too. I had no clue what I was in for. I love Emma Scott’s beautifully emotional writing.

2. Kennedy Ryan

I have to thank Ari from The New Romantics for making me read the Grip series. It was one of the best series I read in 2017, and so timely. Kennedy Ryan is a master with words.

3. Tijan

I don’t always fall in love with Tijan’s books, but the ones I do love hit me hard. She makes me fall in love with characters I would normally hate. She also infuses every book with so much angst and emotion. I am so happy to have found her this year!

4. Jamie Howard

I saw one of Jamie Howard’s Love Unplugged books on Cristina from My Tiny Obessions’ blog. It sounded like something I would like, so I decided to read it. I’m so happy I did!

5. Mignon Mykel

When Mignon Mykel emailed and asked me to read one of her hockey novels, I was excited. I love a great sports romance. I was pleasantly surprised by her writing. She’s quickly becoming one of my favorite hockey romance writers.

6. Mariana Zapata

I’ve only read Dear Aaron, but I can’t wait to get my hands on more books from Marina Zapata. I loved her writing!

7. Jenn Bennett

I’m always looking for great YA contemporary authors. I was happy to have found one in Jenn Bennett. Her stories are cute, but filled with so much heart.

8. L.J. Shen

Sometimes, I just want a darker romance read. L.J. Shen delivers exactly what I like. Her stories are raw and gritty.

9. Jen Frederick

I’m not exactly new to Jen Frederick. I read her collaborations with Elle Kennedy as Erin Watt last year. This year, I introduced myself to a couple of her other series. I loved them!

10. Penny Reid

Penny Reid is another author I’m not entirely new to. She has a series with L.H. Cosway that I adore. This fall, I read her Winston Brothers series. I loved it so much! I need to read more of her solo projects.

Have you read any of these authors? Did they make your list?

  1. I feel like I am such a bad reader for not picking up these authors. I know pretty much all of them, but for some reason I haven’t picked them up but good news they are on my list to read this year!!! So I hope I enjoy them as much as you have.

Thanks for sharing and hope you had a wonderful time celebrating New Years.

    Happy Reading

  2. I basically haven’t heard of these before haha, but then again I don’t read a lot of romance… I’m going to check them out though!

  3. I haven’t read many of these. I did like Jenn Bennett’s book. I also ended up liking The Wall of Winnipeg and Me. I struggled a bit with how slooooow paced it was and it was probably more of a 3.5 for me, but I ended up really loving the last third or so of it, so I bumped my rating up to 4. Thanks for the recommendation!

    • Yay! Do you think you’ll read Wait for It? It’s on sale. It’s her friend Diana’s book. It’s very different from Winnipeg. I thought it was really good.

      • When I looked at it, it looked like it was back up to $4.99 so I probably won’t buy it. But I saw it’s on kindle unlimited and I’ve been thinking about giving that a try so I’ll definitely read it if I do that and it’s still there.

        • BOO! Yes, it is KU. I think it’s worth it. I have read so many books from it this year. And almost all of her books are KU. That’s how I read them. 😉

  4. Jamie Howard made my list too!! Great list of authors. There’s a few on here that are on my TBR because of you, but I haven’t made it to them yet…

  5. Oh I absolutely loved Full Tilt by Emma Scott! It was such an emotional book! And I’m hoping to try a book by Penny Reid this year. I bought Neanderthal Seeks Human and fingers crossed I love her books as much as you!
