Birthstones As Books Tag

I saw this tag for the first time the other day over at Stephanie’s Book Reviews. I thought it would be fun to do since it was different than other tags I’ve done before. 🙂

GARNET (JANUARY)- Associated with warding off negative forces and dark energies, name a book with the darkest/evilest character you can think of.

I can’t tell you who it was from Mud Vein that won the evilest character award from me, but I will say that I thought what that character did was really disturbing.

AMETHYST (FEBRUARY)- Purple is associated with royalty, name a book with regal qualities…You can base your choice on characters or choose the king (or queen) of all books.

Paper Princess doesn’t contain actual royalty, but it does have high school royalty in the form of the Royal family. Yep. Their last name is Royal.

AQUAMARINE (MARCH)- Washed out, name a ‘wishy washy’ character, a character who is not strong or is a follower.

Rachel is pretty wishy-washy. She’s always in an alcohol haze and seems so weak.

DIAMOND (APRIL)- A diamond in the rough, name a book that you loved but is not well known.

The Lace Reader is an older book, so maybe it’s well known and I just don’t know it. I feel like no one I know has really read it.

EMERALD (MAY)- Said to balance energy, name two characters who balance each other well.

Jamie & Wes from Him and Us.

PEARL (JUNE)- Associated with loyalty, name a character who is loyal to the end.

RUBY (JULY)- Blood red, name a book that made your blood boil, one that made you angry.

Kudos to Kim Holden for creating the most selfish, cruel b!tch I’ve ever read with Miranda.

PERIDOT (AUGUST)- It pales in comparison to other gems, name a supporting character who you like better than the main character.

Frank Sanger completely stole the show from what’s her name (the main character). See, I don’t even remember her name! That’s how much Franky boy stole the show.

SAPPHIRE (SEPTEMBER)- Blue like the ocean which is calming, name a book that had a calming affect on you.

I was kind of in a little reading funk and Roman Crazy was the perfect escape. It got me back in the reading spirit.

OPAL (OCTOBER)- Iridescent, name an iridescent book; this can be with a beautiful cover (shiny, colorful) or you can base it off a character (quirky? unique?).

This book isn’t exactly shiny or anything, but the bright colors totally drew me in. The fact that I wanted to read it and it was good was a bonus.

TOPAZ (NOVEMBER)- Associated with resilience, name a book with a character who rises to the top in a time of adversity.

I have to pick Rose Calloway for this one. She stood up for Lily and Lo when they needed it most. She took over and helped them in ways no one else had before.

BLUE ZIRCON (DECEMBER)- Associated with friendship, name a book with a friendship you want to be a part of.

Yep, back to the Addicted/Calloway Sisters series. I want to be part of their loyal friendship/family dynamic. These friends would do anything for each other.

I’m going to be a little lazy and invite anyone who would like to participate to do this tag.

  1. Yay I’m glad you did this one! I got The Lace Reader from the library once when I saw it another list or tag or you mentioned it in, but I actually never got to it before it expired. I need to try to get it again.
