She’s good at achieving her goals…
College senior Sabrina James has her whole future planned out: graduate from college, kick butt in law school, and land a high-paying job at a cutthroat firm. Her path to escaping her shameful past certainly doesn’t include a gorgeous hockey player who believes in love at first sight. One night of sizzling heat and surprising tenderness is all she’s willing to give John Tucker, but sometimes, one night is all it takes for your entire life to change.
But the game just got a whole lot more complicated
Tucker believes being a team player is as important as being the star. On the ice, he’s fine staying out of the spotlight, but when it comes to becoming a daddy at the age of twenty-two, he refuses to be a bench warmer. It doesn’t hurt that the soon-to-be mother of his child is beautiful, whip-smart, and keeps him on his toes. The problem is, Sabrina’s heart is locked up tight, and the fiery brunette is too stubborn to accept his help. If he wants a life with the woman of his dreams, he’ll have to convince her that some goals can only be made with an assist.
The Goal has been one of my most anticipated reads of 2016 ever since Elle Kennedy dropped a giant Tucker bomb at the end of The Score. I’ve been dying to read Tucker and Sabrina’s story. I knew it was going to be amazing and I was right!
The Goal takes place during the same time period as The Score, rather than beginning after The Score‘s cliffhanger. The reader gets to see how Tucker and Sabrina’s relationship began and what led to that crazy cliffhanger.
As always, Elle Kennedy’s writing was spectacular. I was super impressed by the way she was able to make me fall in love with Sabrina. I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to after experiencing Dean’s hatred for her in The Score. Finding out her background and reading through her point of view really helped. There was way more to Sabrina than I expected. My heart broke for her so many times. I respected her determination to build a better life for herself. She wasn’t always the nicest person, but I probably wouldn’t have been if I was in her shoes either.
John Tucker was everything. (Does that even make sense?) He was just so dang perfect! As you can tell by the book cover, Tucker was sexy and ripped. 😉 He was also smart and nice. He might have been kind of a player like his roommates, but he was so nice even his ex-girlfriends were still friends with him. And he had an Southern accent. I love accents! I can’t believe I’m even saying this because Garrett has always been my favorite, but…
Move over Garrett Graham, John Tucker has officially taken your spot as the hottest Off-Campus guy!
While all of those things made Tucker amazing, the thing that catapulted him to perfect in my mind was his relationship with Sabrina. He saw the best in her when others didn’t. He was able to see beyond the hot temper and snide remarks and find the girl who needed someone to love and support her. He wanted to be that man and he took his role seriously. Tucker was the partner every man (or woman) should be.
Sabrina and Tucker’s relationship was dramatic, passionate and emotional. I loved every minute of it. As soon as I finished, I wanted to read it all over again. The Goal was an amazing addition to the Off-Campus series. Fans of the series are going to love it! I would highly recommend The Goal and the entire Off-Campus series.
