I was tagged to do The Harry Potter Book Tag by Joey @ Thoughts and Afterthoughts. Thanks, Joey!
While I’m not as big of fan as some people out there, I did really love reading the series. I read it out loud to my daughter after she was born because I had read how important it was for them to hear your voice. She started talking before she was one, so I’m going to credit Harry for that. 😉
Flagrate – a book with an interesting premise/theme but you’d like to rewrite
Save Me, Kurt Cobain is about Nico, a teenage girl, whose mother left when she was a little girl. Nico’s mother loved Nirvana and Nico gets the crazy idea that Kurt Cobain is her father. On a trip from her home in Canada to Seattle, Nico swears she sees him and goes on quest to get answers. I would like less crazy Nico. She was over the top obsessed and it drove me nuts. She did so many stupid, crazy things. I was cringing for half the story. And there were way too many Nirvana facts. Since I was a Washingtonian teenager in the 90’s, it was fun to be reminded of some things, but the facts started to weigh down the book.
Alohamora – the first book in a series that got you hooked
← See this book, people? READ IT! Seriously. The cover may not be shockingly beautiful and the blurb may not be very enticing, but this book is freaking amazing. I never thought I would love it as much as I did. It’s about a fifteen-year-old girl, Ginny, who is abducted by a motorcycle gang. She ends up with Stockholm syndrome. There’s twists and turns that will make you crazy. You’ll be instantly downloading the next book. I did. It’s one of my favorite books of all time.
Accio — a book you wish you could have right now
It doesn’t have a cover yet, but I wish I could have the third book in the Nine Minutes series, A Gift of Time, right now. I can’t wait for it to be released…someday? I’m planning on rereading Nine Minutes and Out of Time before it comes out and I never do that.
Avada Kedavra – a killer book
Reading Glass Sword “killed” me. I wanted to wring
Mare Barrow’s Bone Marrow’s neck. She proved how annoying she could get in this one. Anyone can betray anyone. Yes, Mare, we get it.
Confundo — a book you found really confusing
Stroll of Reality confused the heck out of me. The writing was amazing, but I didn’t get these short stories. They were really dark and kind of twisted. It just wasn’t my thing, I guess.
Expecto Patronum – your spirit book
Bright Side might seem like an odd choice for this one, but it has a quote that resonated so much with me that I think of it often and try to live my life by it.
Sectumsumpra – a dark and twisted book
Delicate Monsters was so messed up. The entire thing was dark and twisted. It left me feeling completely unsettled.
Aparacium – a book that surprised you in a great way; reveals to be more than it is
Don’t let this simple and maybe just slightly boring four part story trick you. There’s way more to The Ghosts of Heaven than it seems. I may have yelled an expletive at the end. (Don’t sneak a peek at the ending. It’ll ruin it.)
